We frequently see the terms "performance
         management" and "performance appraisal" used
similarly in organizations. But both the concepts
are very different from each other.

Performance management is a set of processes

and responsibilities that ensures employees fulfil
their objectives on time. The goals must be in line
with the organization's objectives. In the sense
that it evaluates employee performance while
keeping in mind the individual's and organization's

         development needs, performance management
takes a holistic approach. Basically, performance
management is the process of identifying,

         measuring, managing and developing the
performance of workers, which is focused on the
         present and future.

             Performance appraisal evaluates the actual
         performance of the employee. Performance
         appraisal evaluates the employee’s performance
based on how he has performed in the immediate

past. The manager delivers a final evaluation after
the employee has given self-feedback. Basically,
performance appraisal is the process of evaluating

         employee performance, measure the actual
performance on a regular basis which is focused
on past by reviewing for past performance
