Diversity in the hospitality workplace


             The  hospitality  sector  is  a  particularly  a  diverse

         field.  It  is  based  on  many  organizations  and  a
         diverse  group  of  employees  and  customers  from
         various backgrounds. The term "diversity" refers to
         the  variations  that  exist  between  people.  Race,

         gender, religion, ethnicity, social status, and other
         factors can all play a role.


         When  discussing  diversity  from  human  resource

         management  (HRM),  the  focus  tends  to  be  on  a
         set  of  policies  to  meet  compliance  standards.
         Diversity is concerned with individuals' "otherness"
         or  differences  to  ensure  that  everyone  is  treated

         equally through policies to prevent discrimination
         and create better workplaces.
