Thevenin Theorem
Step 1
Remove the 10Ω resistor from the circuit and replace the voltage source with a short
circuit. Calculate the value of Zth.
Zth = [(250) Ω // (j100)] + (–j25) Ω
= (250)(j100) – j25
(250)+ (j100)
= (34.483 + j61.207) Ω
Step 2
Calculate the value of Thevenin voltage, Vth by removing the 10Ω load from the
circuit.
By using Voltage Divider Rule (VDR),
Vth = V(j100) Ω = (j100) x 15<0°V = ( . + . ) V
(j100+250)
Step 3
Draw the Thevenin equivalent circuit with the 10Ω load connected to the circuit.
