Example 8
Determine the current that flow through (5 + j10) Ω by using Norton’s theorem.

Step 1
Remove the impedance (5 + j10) Ω from the circuit and replace the voltage source with
a short circuit. Hence, calculate the value of ZN.

= ([ (j5)( 6) ] – j8) // (4Ω)
(6 + j5)
= (2.459 – j5.049) // (4Ω)
