                       Example 8


                       Determine the current that flow through (5 + j10) Ω by using Norton’s theorem.

                       Step 1


                       Remove the impedance (5 + j10) Ω from the circuit and replace the voltage source with
                       a short circuit. Hence, calculate the value of ZN.

                                                                   ZN  = [(j5Ω // 6Ω) + (–j8Ω)] // (4Ω)


                                                                    = ([  (j5)( 6)  ] – j8) // (4Ω)
                                                                        (6 + j5)

                                                                    = (2.462 – j1.202) Ω
