Tourism Product Life Cycle
The destination is defined as a place that has some
form of actual or perceived boundary, such as the
physical boundary of an island, political boundaries
or even market-created boundaries.
Destinations are different from products as these
experience tourism even before commercialization
and it continues after the decline of popular
tourism. Butler proposed the tourism area life cycle
(TALC) model of a tourist destination that identifies
the stages of exploration, development,
consolidation, stagnation and decline.
