                       There are four steps to analyse the circuit using Norton’s theorem.

                          1) Find Norton resistance, RN by removing the load and replaced the voltage source
                              with a short circuit and the current source with an open circuit.

                          2) Find the Norton current source, IN by removing the load from the original circuit

                              and short circuit the open connection points where the load used to be.

                          3) Draw the Norton equivalent circuit with the Norton current source in parallel

                              with the Norton resistance, RN.

                          4) Calculate the load current, iL by using Current Divider Rule.

                                                               R N
                                                        iL=          x IN
                                                             R +R  L
                                                              N

                       Example 1

                       Consider the following circuit, determine the current that flows through the 4Ω

                       resistor by using Norton’s theorem.
