CHAPTER 1
              1.1 Digestion System

            DIGESTION SYSTEM

Once we sniff and test food, our food passes through
the gastrointestinal tract (also known as digestive
tract) - the hollow tube that runs in the middle of our
                                    body.

           DEFINITION

It is a human organ system that takes in food, digests it,
absorbs energy and nutrients, and then removes waste
products as excrement (Akraim, M., Bobaker, B., &
           Mustafa, R., 2021).

                                                 Systems
Food takes 24 to 72 hours to move through your digestive
tract. The exact time depends on the amounts and types
of food that you have eaten.

The rate is also based on other factors; age, gender,
metabolism and any digestive issues (that will either slow
down or speed up the process).
