2.0 COMPONENTS OF HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

Hydraulic systems transfer power by feeding a hydraulic fluid from a closed vessel

with variable displacement to another closed vessel. It’s explained according to
Pascal’s principle. A static fluid in a closed vessel has the following characteristics,

as stated by Pascal’s Principle shown in Figure 2.1.

                          1. Pressure works on a plane at a right angle
                          2. Pressure is transmitted equally in all directions.

                          3. Pressure applied on part of a fluid is transmitted throughout the fluid equally.

The hydraulic system can be simply shown generally in Figure 2.2. The system

consists of hydraulic pump, motor, accumulator, pressure control valve, flow control
valve, directional control valve, reservoir/tank and actuator.
