3.0 PARTIAL FRACTIONS

Partial fraction is one of the simplest and most effective method in solving algebra related

                       problems regarding rational functions.

                       3.1 Factoring Polynomial Expressions

Polynomials often need to be factored in order to be solved. When factoring a polynomial,

the terms of the expression are simply reorganizing to make them easier to solve.

                       Example 1

Find the partial fraction expansion of the expression

                          a) 2s+4 c) 8s−2
                                2
                                                                               2
                               (s +9s+18) (s +s−12)
                          b) s−5 d) 5s+1
                                2
                                                                               2
                               (s −5s+6) (s −3s−10)

                       SOLUTION

                              2s + 4
                       a) denominator
                            2
                           (s + 9s + 18)
