DSL AND CABLE ACCESS
NETWORKS
DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) and
cable access networks are two
commonly used technologies for
providing broadband internet
access to residential and
business users.
DSL is a technology that enables
high-speed data transmission over
existing copper telephone lines.
It utilizes a frequency division
multiplexing technique to separate
voice and data signals, allowing
simultaneous telephone and
internet connectivity.
ADSL is a technology which
provides higher data rates over
traditional telephone line.
ADSL provides asymmetric bit
rates in downlink and uplink
direction, and that is the reason
for its name (Asymmetric DSL).
