Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D)
ITU-D role in promoting the development and deployment of information
and communication technologies (ICTs), including broadband, in
developing countries.
ITU-D strives to spread equitable and affordable access to
telecommunications, as a means of stimulating broader social and
economic development.
ITU-D is also shown through its assistance to countries in the creation of
broadband strategies and policies, as well as the regulation of broadband
networks and services.
The world societies and economies are becoming more dependent on
communication networks with high data rates with aim to provide access
to all customers to different types of services over the given access
network to the internet.
Applications
ITU-D helps via building local or regional capacity for investments and
deployment of broadband technologies and applications.
ITU-D is connecting everyone everywhere via broadband, including
developed and developing countries in the world.
ITU-D in facilitating the use of ICTs, including broadband, as tools for
socioeconomic development in developing countries.
