Ceramic Materials
o Ceramic materials can be crystalline,

                                        non-crystalline, or mixtures of both.

                                o Ceramics are compounds between

                                        metallic and non-metallic elements, most

                                        frequently oxides, nitrides, and carbides.

o For example, some of the common

                                        ceramic materials include aluminium

oxide (or alumina, Al O ), silicon
