TERMINOLOGIES OF CONTROL
SYSTEM
Plant/Process
The portion of a system which is to be controlled or regulated
is known as the plant or the process.
Controller
The element of the system itself or external to the system
which controls the plant or the process is called the controller.
Controller means measuring the value of the controlled
variable of the system applying the manipulated variable
to the system to correct or to limit the deviation of the
measured value to the desired value.
Input/References input
Stimulus or excitation applied to a control system from an
external source, usually in order to produce a specified
response from the system.
