Answer for Tutorial 2
Visualize two segments between
2a space and earth in the satellite
system with the aid of a diagram.
Two basic elements:
1. Space segment where the
satellites: receives, amplifies,
and retransmits the signals back
to earth.
2. Earth Segment
Uplink transmitter station :
transmits signals to the satellite.
Downlink receiving station:
receives the signals from
satellite
List and explain the satellite subsystem.
2b Power system: all communication satellites obtain their
electrical power from solar cells, which converts incident
sunlight into electrical energy.
Propulsion: to provide the thrusts required to impart the
necessary velocity changes
Altitude and orbit control: to takes care of the orientation of
satellite in its respective orbit.
Thermal control: to maintain the satellite platform within its
operating temperature limits
Telemetry, Tracking and Command: to monitors the on-board
equipment operations, transmits equipment operation data to
the earth control station, and receives the earth control
station's commands to perform equipment operation
adjustments.
44 Antenna: to receiving and transmitting signals from and towards
ground
