Type of Digital Images: Definition
Bitmap/Raster Images
A bitmap, often known as a raster graphic, is a digital image made
out of a dot matrix. Each dot represents a single pixel on a monitor
when seen at 100%. Each dot in a typical bitmap image can have a
different colour. Compression methods are used in other bitmap
image formats including JPEG, GIF, and PNG to minimise file size.
Vector Images
Often employed in graphic design, a vector picture is a 2D
computer image that typically features vibrant colours like those
found in logos and printed graphics. Instead of using pixels with
solid colours, vector artwork consists of points, lines, and curves
that are based on mathematical calculations. One of several
distinct file types, most frequently an EPS, SVG, AI, or PDF, can be
