China is in both the Eastern and Northern Hemispheres, and is located
in the eastern section of Asia on the west coast of the Pacific Ocean.
THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA is the world's third-largest
country by land area. China, after Russia and Canada, is the world's
third largest country, located in Southeast Asia along the Pacific
Ocean's coastline. With an area of 9.6 million square kilometres and a
coastline of 18,000 kilometres, its shape on the map resembles a
rooster.

The northernmost point is Mohe in Heilongjiang Province, while the
southernmost point is Zengmu Ansha (or James Shoal). The Pamirs
mark the country's western border, while the Heilongjiang (Amur) River
and the Wusuli (Ussuri) River meet at roughly 50 degrees latitude and
62 degrees longitude to form the country's eastern border. Korea,
Vietnam, Laos, Burma, India, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan,
Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Russia are all
bordering China. North Korea, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Brunei,
Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam all share a maritime border with
China.
Capital city for China is Beijing. The People's Republic of China's official
currency is the renminbi. The panda is a symbol of China that many
people associate with the country. They are regarded by the Chinese as
a symbol of friendliness and harmony. The panda's tranquil
temperament demonstrated how the yin yang, when balanced, were
harmonious and serene.
