When do ionic compounds

                             conduct electricity?

When it is in solid form, ionic

                                      compounds do not conduct electricity

because the ions are tightly held in

place and unable to carry charges.

It can conduct electricity when molten

because the crystal lattice has broken

down, and the ions can move freely.
