Page 9 - basic control system
P. 9
PREFACE
This E-Book is intended to provide an introduction to some
important topics in Control Systems Engineering. The text is
designed for the benefit of the Teaching and Learning Process.
This E-Book is a student reference for basic level courses in
control systems for Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, and
Agricultural engineering programs.
This E-Book contains 4 chapters. The first chapter is
intended to provide a basic overview of the field of control
systems engineering. In this chapter, we begin by giving
definitions and terms used in control systems.
In chapter 2 and chapter 3, some basic concepts and
techniques used for the analysis and design of control systems
are introduced, namely open-loop control system and closed-loop
control system. The objective of this chapter is to define the
variables used in a control system and be able to draw a block
diagram of the basic elements of a control system.
Chapter 4 deals with Time Domain Analysis for control
systems. Test signals, error coefficients, and constants are
discussed. The response time for the first-order and second-order
systems is discussed. The performance determination of the
second-order derivative system is introduced in this chapter.
This E-Book was developed by the teaching staff of the
Department of Control Engineering, Polytechnic Ibrahim Sultan.
We are indebted to our colleagues who have contributed greatly to
the production of this e-book.
