Director Speech

Assalamualaikum and Salam Sejahtera.
First and foremost, I would like to thank Allah for our successfully developed website.  I would also like to congratulate the ICT unit of Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan (PIS), especially the webmaster for realising our web.
One of the most important aims of this website is to create a platform and source of reference for MS ISO 9001:2001 implementation.  Moreover, it is also a way to show our support to the Ministry of Higher Education’s aspiration in certifying polytechnics with MS ISO 9001: 2000, a certified higher learning institution. It is also hoped that this website will be a catalyst for the development of information and communication technology especially in PIS.
For your information, PJB was one of the initiatives of the Seventh Malaysia Plan. It was a collaborative initiative between the Malaysian Government and the World Bank. Its operation started back in 1998 in a temporary campus at Sekolah Menengah Teknik Johor Bahru. July 1998 marked a historical day for PJB as it moved to its permanent campus on a 100-acre land in Plentong, Johor Bahru district. The total cost of this project was RM 155.52 million.
PJB, as a technical higher learning institution, offers certificate and diploma programs. The duration of study for certificate programs is four semesters (2 years) while for diploma programs is 6 semesters (3 years). It is a graduation requirement that industrial training is compulsory for all students in semester three (certificate programs) and semester four (diploma programs). The purpose of the Industrial training is to expose students to the real working environment related to their fields of study. Moreover, it will instil confidence and team-work spirit in them. Hence, PJB’s vision is not only to produce holistic graduates who are outstanding, well-mannered with strong sense of responsibility in line with the National Philosophy of Education, but also to become a centre of excellence in educational training in the fields of engineering, design and hospitality.
As a high potential technical institution, PIS aims to offer complete educational and training programs to produce knowledgeable and skilful graduates who are highly professional and ethical. Besides that, we also provide holistic programs and extra-curricular activities to students in our effort to ensure that their personality and potential are developed successfully. Moreover, PIS also aims to create and preserve professional relationships with industries through consultations, visits and collaborative programs between the industry and PIS. PIS is also committed in providing excellent services to its internal and external clients through first class treatment by giving utmost concern to the needs of clients. I hope that this website will benefit you.
Thank you. Waalaikumsalam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
